How low will they go?

I was watching the news last night and I caught an interview with the Prime Minister regarding that photo of the PUP lady in the guargian newspaper. I was so stunned when I heard the PM say that there's no one to blame for that because she had it posted on a public site (facebook). But I don't know mein. That just makes him seem so unfair... He does have a point but... Despite the fact that she is of the opposing party, she is still a human being, more so, a woman. Whatever happened to watching out for thy neighbor??? Everything is just so low these days... Look at Mayor Moya... She is the first female to hold that position. I, as well as a possible 90% of the Belizean women, believed that she, if no one else, would make a difference. But she let down thousands when she became just as low and corrupt as all other politicians. greed and power got to her, I assume. Million dollar home, fancy car... What happened to all the promises these people made to us, the citizens of Belize. POWER and GREED... Two of the world's seven deadly sins. Get caught up and it's like you're asking to get burned. That's probably why Belize is in the situation it's in. What do you guys think about this? Do you think he was right to say that? Or should he have taken another standpoint?

School...

Sometimes I gotta wonder if I'm really paying for a quality education. Some teachers just come to class for the sake of coming and whether they show up or not, they still get paid. Some students believe that stressing out their teachers will get them ahead sometimes caz they'll cancel class and stuff like that but we need to realize that WE are the ones working for the degree. Our teachers are there for a reason; they ALREADY have their degrees!!! School may suck at times but in the longer run, it's for our benefit. So let's all keep a positive attitude and work towards our goal. try to have fun at what you need to do. When You're having fun, doesn't time just fly on by? Enjoy being in the classroom. Enjoy learning. Create memories with schoolmates. School life is probably the best time you'll ever have in your entire life!! Make the most of it!!

Puzzles...

So I was watching this movie a few weeks ago and last night I got to think ing about it... I always say that I cant wait to get married. Marriage is a blessing from above and we should embrace it and cherish it once we are blessed with it. But I did and essay in English class and had to do some research after which I discovered that we have an extremely high divorce rate in the country of Belize. Why get married if you're not gonna be willing to work at your issues if/when they arise. For example, many say that if they every find out that their spouse is cheating, they'd leave them in a split second. But people make mistakes. If you were the one who cheated, think about how you'd feel if they just dropped you like a hot potato. In this movie, Janet Jackson went like real cuckoo with her dude caz they were getting a divorce and she didnt wanna split the profits from "her" book with him. But through the process of writing that book who was there to support her 110%? Her husband. And late at night when she couldn't sleep, he was by her side. Although people have issues, they should take the time out to atleast make an effort to work them out, especially if they are married and have kids.
Let's not be selfish. She should've shared atleast 80/20 with the guy. I really hope that you think about what I have written. Like I said in a previous post, communication is key. Take note of the little things. Little things are what build a relationship in the first place. Most naturally, it'll be lost if we lose sight of that. My opinion of marriage is that its pretty much the same as just being with someone. The only thing that really makes a difference is the ring on your finger.

Hope this sheds some light on those who think that marriage always results in disaster. Hopefully I'll get married someday and won't have to end up wondering :

Weird....

You know how a lot of people believe in mumbo-jumbo like if the inside of your palm itches then that means you'll come up on some money? Or if your left eye twitches then you'll see somebody that you haven't seen for a really long time? Or if you have a dream about certain things, a dream book could tell you what numbers to buy in the boledo or lottery so you can cash out??

Well I think all that is a whole pile of @!*&$... My eyes twitch all the time and I see the same people all the time. No one new. And my palm always itches too but I'm still financially embarrassed all the time. Now about the dream thing... We have a dream book at home but I rarely dream so I really wouldn't know. But my husband had a dream about alot of 26 and 62s. But since we take that stuff for granted, we didnt pay it any attention... Imagine my frustration when we heard that 26 played in the boledo that very night!! I was so ticked off because I told him to buy it just in case since our mothers are very much into that type of thing (not buying boledo but encouraging people to buy under those circumstances). Now that's one story that neither of us will ever tell our moms because that would get the both of us one across the face!! Lol!

Anyways... I guess the lesson behind that is that we should always listen to our mothers. After all......

Communication is KEY!!

I was in English class yesterday and we were going over an essay called "Sex, Lies and Conversation". At first I was pretty excited to read i because, like a normal teenager, I was under the impresion that it was about exactly what the title says. Unfortunately, it was not. But after reading it, it turned out to be very interesting. It discusses the different styles of communication of men, women, boys, and girls. There was an example whereby a guy always lay on the floor and put his hands over his eyes whenever his girlfriend said she wanted to talk. Being a female, I can understand why she felt offended. We chicas would assume that he was trying to block us out. But w never sem to realize that its just the way men communicate. They use different body language, different affirmation, etc. For example, when females talk, we ugre each other by saying "hmmm, yes girl, oh hell" and so on.  But when we talk to males, they don't respond in the same way. They simply sit there and say nothing. Lades, its not that he is ignoring you. It's just that he's giving you his full attention. He hands you the mic and try not to talk so they don't interrupt. I think it's really cute. lol. On the other hand, women just complicate things. When their guys are talking to them on a serious level, women always want to be butting in and asking questions in between. Guys hate that! WE should just shut the hell up and listen! :-P But really chicas. Both sexes communicate differently. We need to understand that and we can't pressure men to conform. Try it and you'll notice that eventually, they'll simply give in to the way we do things. :-). After all, communication is the key to successful relationships!!

Times Really ARE Changing!!

Over this weekend, I was sitting at home thinking about how differently people of today behave in comparioson with people from back in the days. My mom always tells us that when she was a young girl, they could NEVER talk back to their parents, or any elder for that matter. Even the smallest inication of an attempt to blurt an answer would get you one solid slap across the face. And what's  up with parents who are afraid of hitting their own kids?? This isn't America. You won't go to jail (atleast not immediately). lol. But really. On a serious note, I just feel like the world is coming to an end. Individuals of the younger generation are completely losing respect for elders. What chaos would occur if there is no level of respect? Children need to understand that whatever parents do is, in most cases,  in the best interest of the child. However, at the same time, parents should understand that their children share different views and opinions and their opinions should be respected. I don't even know what esle to say. I'm now at a loss for words. This subject just really upsets me. How can anyone disrespect someone who brought you to this world? Hmph!!

I can't go on. Let me hear your views on this...

What really is torture?

In my English class today, we were developing presentations about an essay in our textbook. Its about different forms of torture that the American system used under the Bush Administration. These included sleep deprivation, physical abuse, etc. In my presentation, I elaborated on one popular form of abuse used in slavery: WHIPPING. I also included a pictured of an enslaved man who's plantation overseer constantly whipped him in his back whenever he wasn't "working up to standard". This caused his back to become filled with layers of scars that looked like vines.
How can anyone do such a horrible thing to another human being?? Where in their hearts can they find the strength to inflict such wounds upon a fellowman? These are the questions that haunt me.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that torture is wrong in all situations. Maybe in life threatening cases, a little torture wouldn't be so bad. But for something as simple as sitting down for a rest? Come on!!!

What are your takes on torture? What methods, if any, do you believe are better to use? Share your views on this topic by commenting on this post!! Looking forward to see your comments :)
